Avishka’s family in Darjeeling faces significant financial instability. As a daily wage laborer, her father’s income is unpredictable, particularly during the rainy season when labor demand drops. Her mother participates in a local "100-day" employment scheme but only secures 5 to 10 days of work per month, earning approximately ₹300 ($3.45 USD) daily.

Due to these limited resources, the family frequently relies on credit for basic groceries. Despite these hardships, Avishka is a dedicated student who aspires to join the police force. Her parents, who lacked access to formal schooling, are deeply committed to supporting her education to break the cycle of poverty.
